Time + Space: The Recipe For Innovation

Time + Space: The Recipe For Innovation

Lightning Talk
noun: A very short presentation lasting only a few minutes, usually given at a conference or similar forum. Known to inspire, spark, and ignite new ideas.

What I love about lightning talks? They are the start of something. They let us learn just enough to pique our curiosity. They pop up in our minds and fill in blanks as we are scrolling headlines on LinkedIn.

Recently, Phase2 and Acquia hosted a networking breakfast for health industry professionals to discuss key topics. There was breakfast, smoothies, networking but most importantly time set aside for some of our subject matter experts to share lightning talks on what is coming next in the world of health.

These talks got the room buzzing and suddenly conversation shifted from where you’re from or what you do to the struggles of digital recruitment in healthcare, the uncharted territories of patient data, and giving patients access to their entire healthcare journey in the palm of their hand.

Since this event, the lightning talks have inspired me to think about what’s next—looking to the future of the health industry and how we can prepare for it.

Health and Wellness Breakfast

Digital Future of Health Work
Annie Stone, Director, Marketing Services at Phase2, addressed the challenges of online job applications in healthcare. She highlighted the high abandonment rate and significant number of clicks required for nurses to complete an application. Understanding this common challenge across all systems, we need to make the application process more user-friendly by focusing on clear employee value propositions and utilizing passive sourcing channels.

What’s Next?
Once the hiring process is smoothed, what do we tackle next in the pursuit of exceptional digital experience? With the practice of traveling nurses expected to grow by 40% in the near future, how can we plan now to support that workforce digitally and make transitions into new hospital systems not feel like starting from scratch?

DAM + Generative AI
Jake Athey, Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Acquia, took the stage to discuss the role of digital asset management (DAM) in managing content chaos. He explained how content disorganization can lead to slow workflows, higher costs, and ineffective launches. DAM acts as a backbone for brand management and its ability to increase brand awareness and build trust.

What’s Next?
In Athey’s recent CMSWire article he states, “...the decisions we make in DAM—the practices we use to organize, protect, deploy and analyze content—will quietly shape the norms of AI in media and culture.” Talk about uncharted territory. Generative AI is learning and evolving each day, but at what point do we have to set some standards on how it is harnessed and processed?

Compliance: Table Stakes for SAAS Products
Mark Royko, Director of Practice Development at Acquia, delved into the world of Customer Data Platforms (CDP) and Digital Experience Platforms (DXP) HIPAA compliance. He highlighted the challenges of managing data silos and the importance of integrating disparate systems to deliver personalized health experiences.

What’s Next?
HIPAA compliance and Business Associate Agreements (BAA) are nothing new if you work in the health industry. But as privacy concerns are growing in regards to patient data, more and more healthcare systems can only choose to work with partners that have taken the proper precautions and are HIPAA-compliant themselves. Phase2’s experts share the early days of this conversation in a practical guide, “Protect Patient Data With or Without GA4.” But how will this change our industry in the long term and how can we prepare now?

Lightning Might Have To Strike Again

In the health world there are so many more questions to answer. What is the future of total health experience? What is the latest innovation for payers to have seamless connectivity with providers? How can digital experience drive the portability of health information? Feels like we may be due for another round.

Keep an eye out for our next event, and in the meantime, sign up to receive Phase2 insights!
