As we gear into the new decade, the engagement of millennials with healthcare remains a pressing issue. Studies show that promoting mobile content, being authentic, grabbing attention through imagery, and making your content entertaining is how you get their attention. But here’s the kicker, these traits aren’t unique to Millennials. Perhaps it’s time to reconsider a different group of generation? Solution: Generation C.
In 2018, digital analyst Brian Solis shares that Generation C is “where “C” represents “Connected.” Those who fall into this groups aren’t grouped by age but by those “who share common intent, behaviors, preferences, and aspirations.” The group has members that can range from ten years old to 90 years old. There is no socioeconomic status, ethnicity, geographic or any other classic demographic marker to identify Gen C members.
Connectivity is what sets them apart. These members are active and engaged in online communities, from social networks to review sites. They’re consuming online content and producing personalized content.
They live in a digital world. Your billboards, print ads, television commercials and many other traditional forms of media don’t resonate with them. Most of their time is spent on digital devices and is often their choice of platform when actively engaging with the world. Many Generation C report that they rely on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Snapchat, and other networks for most their news and information. They thrive on curated, customized, and optimized content.
The key to getting their attention is by providing sharable, entertaining, informative, genuine, and visual content. With unlimited online sources for people’s attention, your content needs to be innovative, engaging and most importantly, personalized to their taste. They’re active viewers so anything that will help them make the quickest decision possible is a plus in their books. The number one way to reach Gen C is shared content on personal networks.
Brands dominating the Gen C world include Apple, Nike, and GoPro. These companies are masters at understanding the ideal audience for their content. How well do you understand your audience?
